Getting Your Car Ready For Warm Weather

As the snow and cold wains, we look forward to Summer and warmth again.

How do you best prepare your car, truck, or SUV for Summer? Below are 8 key steps to get your ride ready for the warmth. We also added a few suggestions for you to consider.

1) Most importantly, ensure your tires are properly inflated. overinflated tires will cause the tires to round out and will cause uneven wear and decrease traction. Keep a tire pressure gauge in your car and check frequently.

2) Have your battery checked. Batteries generally last 3 to 5 years. Air conditioning systems increase the electrical load on the vehicle and weak batteries will fail (usually at the most inconvenient time). Our technicians can check the battery’s health and then batteries can be changed prior to failure.

3) Have your engine coolant checked to ensure the proper mix and quality. This will ensure your engine will properly handle the heat of summer.

4) Keep your gas tank full. Never run on fumes. Running low on fuel continuously stresses the fuel pump and can cause early fuel pump failure.

5) Have your belts and hoses checked. Belts and hoses should be replaced every 30,000 miles. Just like cold weather can embrittle old belts and hoses to cause failure, the extremes of hot weather can soften these materials and result in expensive tows and repairs.

6) Winter salt and ice can be tough on your wipers. As spring showers arrive, have your wiper blades checked to allow for a streak-free performance. Clear visibility is key to safe driving.

7) Check your oil to be sure your engine is protected. Top off your oil if it is low. Change your oil according to your manufacturer’s requirements.

Come to Advanced VTech and our technicians will complete a 33+ point inspection, including these key summer steps, for you while you wait for only $24.95. We will advise you what work should be done and cost to do so.

8) Air conditioning systems need care annually and performing this service prior to the hottest weather hitting can mean the difference to a comfortable ride or being overheated when all those that did not prepare are trying to get service for their vehicles. Advanced VTech will perform Air Conditioning Service on any vehicle prior to May 1st for $79.95 (normally $99.95) for those that plan ahead for the summer!
